Learn from Defeat ?
(originally written 1/31/02)

===============

Part of new psycho-babble being espewed from some quarters telling us - it is good to suffer some defeats in life, it builds character, resolve, and improves our chances to win. Whether it is in the realms of sports, business, whatever. If this is true, then those who lost the most often and failed at anything will eventually come out on top and soon!

Tell this to the NBA's Golden State Warriors, who haven't won much for years, or the Los Angeles Clippers, who last won a playoff series in the 70's when they were the Buffalo Braves and led by Bob Mcadoo. Most would not remember these facts because people usually only remember the winners.

According to the belief of losing begats winning, my own experience of losing to the same teams over 500 times should have benefitted me a long time ago. Everything I touch now should "turn to gold", but that is not the case, its not even close!

I am here to tell you that some of the stuff that is just "accepted as gospel" by Americans is "pure bull"! People eat it up, like candy. Who is benefitting from this "school of thought" ?
