The Failure of Academia
(originally written 2/14/02)

==================

The "academic culture" (industry) has failed in its mission of providing a better education, increased contribution to society, and of helping America in its international competitiveness (in economics, etc.). It has instead focused on sporting and extra-curricular activities. While at the same time, attempting to promote class-division of the current societal structure (see early freshmen acceptance enrollments).

These two things are non-essentials to the purpose of higher education institutions. Society has benefitted little from the "academia world". This is the case despite the total resources continually invested. Investments to all colleges and Universities should reduced greatly or completely eliminated - due to the lack of results produced. A "bad tree" that has produced "bad fruit"!

"Academia" needs to get off "their high horse". Those in the "ivory towers" think that they are the "be all and end all". Wrong! The financial and result-oriented restrictions placed on them by "tough" President would be executed immediately. If "the academics" choose to be non-cooperative, the result would be complete closure & physical "pillaging for common society usage" or destruction of the campus. It could be a combination of both actions. The haughty, elite Ivy League schools would be "brought down".

Since when is education a bad thing? Would you really rather that everyone in this country were uneducated?
